GENESIS

God’s Creation: Genesis 1:1-2:7.
Adam and Eve and the Garden of Eden—Genesis 2:7—3:24.

Noah and the Ark and the Flood—Genesis 5:29-9:28–(Noah was 950 years old when he died).
The Tower of Babel—Genesis 11:1-9.

JUDGES

Samson and Delilah—Judges 13:1—16:30—Samson was born in verse Judges 13:24.

RUTH

The book of Ruth 1:1-4:22—This is a wonderful love story with a lot of loyalty and love and faithfulness of the Lord.

1 SAMUEL and 2 SAMUEL

1 Samuel 1:1-7:17—Samuel’s birth and childhood
8:1-15:335—Samuel and King Saul
16:1-31:13 is about King Saul and Samuel and David—Samuel anoints David; David and Goliath; David and Jonathan (King Saul’s son) become friends; King Saul pursues David; and Saul’s Death.
2 Samuel 1:1-10:19—David becomes King over Judah; David becomes King over Israel; David conquers the surrounding nations.
2 Samuel 11:1-24:25—David and Bathsheba; Turmoil in David’s family; National rebellion against David; the later years of David’s rule.

1 KINGS

1 Kings 1:1—11:43 (The United Kingdom)—David’s son Solomon becomes King; Solomon’s wisdom (He wrote the bible book of Proverbs); Solomon builds the temple; Solomon’s greatness and downfall.
1 Kings 12:1-22:53 (The Divided Kingdom).

JOB

Job 1:1-2:13—Job is tested. He goes through a lot of suffering and loss.
Job 3:1-31:40—Three rounds of different friends telling Job the reason for his sufferings
32:1-37:24—suffering purifies our faith—we are just to remain faithful because God is faithful—trust God to make things work out for good!
38:1-41:34—God answers Job. God is in control of the world, and only He understands why the good are allowed to suffer. This only becomes clear to us when we see God for who He is. We must courageously accept what God allows to happen in our lives and remain fully firmly committed to Him.
42:1-17—Job is restored. Job finally learned that when nothing else was left, he had God, and that was enough.

Through suffering, we learn that God is enough for our lives and our future. We must love God regardless of whether He allows blessing or suffering to come to us. Testing is difficult, but the result is often a deeper relationship with God. Those who endure the testing of their faith will experience God’s great rewards in the end.

When we keep our eyes on God and believe his promise of eternal life with Him makes it easier—and we will know it will be worth it!

The PSALMS and PROVERBS—these are wonderful books in the Bible! The Psalms are in the Center of the Bible. This is a great collection of songs and prayers that express the heart and soul of humanity. David is the author of most of the Psalms—He confesses his sins, expresses doubts and fears, asks God for help in times of trouble and he praises and worships God.

As you read the book of PSALMS, you will hear believers crying out to God from the depths of despair, and you will hear them singing to God in the heights of celebration. You will always hear the writers sharing honest feelings with their God. Men and women throughout history have come again and again to the book of PSALMS for comfort during times of struggle and distress—especially during disasters. We rise from the depths of despair to new heights of joy and praise as the power of God’s everlasting love and forgiveness is discovered throughout. Let the honesty of the psalmists guide you into a deep and genuine relationship with God.

(David wrote 73 Psalms, Asaph wrote 12, the sons of Korah wrote 9, Solomon wrote 2, Herman, Ethan and Moses each wrote 1, 51 Psalms are anonymous. The Date the Psalms were written was around 1440 B.C. and during the Babylonian Captivity around 586 B.C).
Solomon wrote most of PROVERBS, later writings were by Agur and Lemuel.

SONG OF SOLOMON (Song of Songs)—This is a love story between a bridegroom (Solomon) and his bride. The purpose of this book is to affirm the sanctity of marriage and to picture God’s love for His people.
It is a moving story, drama, and poem. Song of Solomon features the love dialogue between a simple Jewish maiden and her lover. They describe in intimate detail their feelings for each other and their longings to be together. Throughout the dialogue, sex and marriage are put in their proper, God-given perspective.
Remember you are loved by God and commit yourself to seeing life and marriage from His point of view.

5:2-6:3—A troubling dream.
6:4-7:9a—Praising the bride’s beauty.
7:9b-8:4—The Bride’s tender appeal.

The rest of the books of the Old Testament ISAIAH—MALACHI are Books of Prophecy. (Especially Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel)

JONAH–story about Jonah and the Whale!
1:1-2:10—Jonah forsakes God’s mission.
3:1-4-11– Jonah fulfills God’s mission.

DANIEL

Daniel 1:1-6:28—Daniel’s Life.
7:1-12:13—Daniel’s visions.
Daniel in the Lion’s Den, Daniel’s friends, Shadrach, Meshach and Abendnego –Daniel 3:1—27 in the fiery furnace.
Daniel 6:1-28- -Daniel and the Lion’s den.

THE NEW TESTAMENT

MATTHEW, MARK, LUKE, and JOHN are the four books of the gospel.
Matthew 24 is an important book on the end times.

Mark is a good account of Jesus’ Ministry.

Luke tells the Christmas story of the birth of Jesus– Luke 1:6-1:38.
John the Baptist is born–Luke 1:57-1:80 (He is Jesus’ cousin).
Jesus’ Birth in Bethlehem– Luke 2:1-2:7.
Luke 3:1-3:18 is about John the Baptist preparing the way of Jesus.
John Baptizes Jesus 3:21-22.
Luke 4:1-13 Satan tempts Jesus in the Desert.
Luke 4:14-21:38 is the message and ministry of Jesus, the Savior.

The Book of John— I love this Gospel book the best-(They are all wonderful but I have always loved reading John the best.

ACTS: 1:1-12:25 Peter’s ministry
13:1-28:31 is Paul’s ministry
Acts 2—The Holy Spirit comes at Pentecost–The apostles establish the church, they preach—get persecuted. Stephen is stoned to death
Acts 5:18019—they arrest the apostles and put them in the public jail.
Acts 7:54—7:60 the stoning of the apostle Stephen
Acts 9:1-9:18 is Saul’s conversion—God changed his name to Paul (God made him the apostle Paul)

Paul wrote the books—Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 & 2 Thessalonians

These are just a few highlights I made of the books of the Bible that I like the most. There is so much more in the Word of God. These are just a part of what sort of treasures you will find inside the Holy Bible.

Your study will be totally different because you all have different interests and personalities than me and we are all unique. Only God will reveal to each of you what He wants you to know in His timing. Have fun reading!
