Who is a True Christian?

I’d like to start out by asking you to read Chapter 12 in the book of Romans:(verses 1-21). This piece of Scripture is about how every Christian should strive to conduct themselves–written in God’s own words.

Christianity is not a religion–there are no religious rituals–unless you call praying or reading the Bible a ritual. Following Christ is through a personal relationship with Him, not religion or theology. It is based on our faith and love for God.

True Christians believe that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God.

True Christians believe Jesus died for them and rose again three days later.

True Christians have a personal relationship with Christ Jesus, by asking Him to be their personal savior.

A true Christian is a follower of Jesus.

A true Christian places Christ in the center of their life; and a true Christian puts Jesus first in their life (before self and others. Christ is a true Christian’s first love. Things just seem to fall in place easier when we give God control of our lives.

True Christians love God with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength. This is in obedience because this is God’s number one Commandment. The second is to love others as yourself. True Christians give their all to do God’s will.

True Christians strive to be like Christ. We can never be as perfect as Him, but God isn’t done with us yet–not until the day Jesus returns for us.

True Christians strive to love others unconditionally, as God loves us–with compassion, forgiveness, and with humility.

True Christians look for the good in people, not judging by outward appearances.

True Christians believe that God is omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient. He is our Sovereign God. A true Christian knows He is the only God and He is supreme over any human, angel, or anything else He ever created.

True Christians know that they can go directly to God in prayer. They do not need an earthly intercessor. Jesus is our intercessor.

True Christians bring Christ’s light into this world.

A True Christian believes in the Holy Spirit and knows that our body is His temple.

True Christians believe that the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God, which is the truth that sets us free.

A True Christian is a child of God.

True Christians know there is only one way to our Father in heaven–through His Son, Jesus.

A True Christian wants to share Jesus with unbelievers so that they may have the blessed hope, too.

A True Christian may have the confidence that they will live with Jesus for eternity when God calls us home.

I could write a book on who a True Christian should be, this is just an example of my view. God already wrote the rule book that a true Christian should follow.

The following Scriptures are where I got the incentive to write this article. I hope you have time to look them up for yourself–Matthew 22:37-40; Matthew 5:16; John 3:30; John 14:6; Ephesians 5:8-9; 1 John 5:7; 1 John 2:5; 2 Timothy 3:16-17

I would like to hear from my readers–who do you think a True Christian is?
