Free Will Choices

God gave us free will as a gift.
It’s up to us to use it respectfully or not.

We have the freedom to choose which way we go.
It is our choice to sin or not.

We have the freedom to speak any way we want.
Or speak the way God will approve.

It is our choice to accept
Christ Jesus into our life, or not.

He will not force us to come to Him,
But He will give us the choice to go to Him.

We have freedom of choice of which movies we watch
Or the music we listen to, or what books we read.

We have the choice to believe that Jesus
Is the only way to get to heaven,
Or believe that there are many ways.

We have the choice to believe that the
Bible is the true Word of God—or not.

We have the choice to put the Lord first in our life,
Or choose something or someone else.

We have the freedom to choose our friends.
God knows the best ones.

We choose whether we go to
Heaven or hell when we die.

We either choose to have a happy everlasting life
Or go to eternal hell fire and suffer.

Free will is our choice to have
His will be done–or our will be done.

We choose to be happy
Or depressed, or scared.

We have a choice to stay on the
Righteous path or stray in other directions.

It’s our choice to
Treat people with respect or not.

God knows what is best for us.
It’s our choice to believe this.

It’s for us to know
That we only need to choose Jesus
To receive eternal life with Him.

Free will is either a blessing or a curse.
It’s your choice to choose which it will be.

Deuteronomy 30:19(NKJV)—I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

Joshua 24:15(NKJV)—“And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve… But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

You are Not Alone in Your Struggles

1 Corinthians 10:13(NLT)—But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what other experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it.

Romans 3:10-12(NLT)—10) as the Scriptures say, “No one is good—not even one. 11) No one has real understanding; no one is seeking God. 12) All have turned away from God; all have gone wrong. No one does good, not even one.”

Romans 3:23(NLT)—for all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious standard.

Romans 6:23(NLT)—For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8(NLT)—But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Sin separated us from God since the beginning of time. God knew how weak we were with the selfish desires of our flesh and how we could not change ourselves. We needed a Savior to save us from an eternal death. God sent us His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die in our place for all our sins—past and present—so that we could be reconciled to Him.

God is holy and God is love; He detests sin and cannot even look at us when we sin. He did not want anyone to perish. When we choose to accept Jesus into our heart and believe by faith that He is our Personal Savior, we will be forgiven and become an adopted child of God. We will receive the Holy Spirit and we will become a temple for the Spirit of God to live in us.

If you are already born again, praise God! If you haven’t made that step yet then this is a lesson for your sake. Whether we are a believer in Christ or not, we still will have sin in our life. God gave us “free will.” We have a choice in everything we do. We are responsible for our own destiny—whether we go to heaven for eternity or not. The choices we make today will determine that.

Sin is prevalent in everyone’s life. We all have a spiritual war going on that we cannot see, but it does affect us. The temptations we feel everyday are not from God. Whatever habitual sin we struggle with daily, whether it be constant foul talk or habitual lying; pornography or habitually watching immoral television or movies (like shows with the Lord’s name being continually taken in vain, or sexual immorality, or extreme violence, cult or witchcraft being addressed, etc.); drugs; alcohol; cigarette smoking; sexual immorality; gambling—anything addictive, any habitual thing that takes you away from God is our choice and our responsibility to stop. Yes, it is hard to break a habit that we have always allowed in our life; and temptations will be there daily. But we do not have to face them alone. God will be there to help us. All we have to do is ask for Him to deliver us from our sin of choice. Trust God and believe that He will help you. God is bigger than any addiction and more powerful than anything He ever created.

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)–Now glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, He is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would dare to ask or hope.

Matthew 19:26 (NLT)—Jesus said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”

Romans 8:6 (NLT)—If your sinful nature controls your mind, there is death. But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind there is life and peace.

There is our choice again. Either we choose our selfish, fleshly desires or we choose God’s help and decide to live a life based on His Word (The Holy Bible–In John 1:1 it tells us that Jesus is His Word). There are so many wonderful treasures to learn about God’s gift to us. It is a privilege to read God’s Word. I pray that you choose God and His Word today and that you delve into the Bible and seek His face. He will reveal Himself to you in so many wonderful ways. (The Gospel of John is a great place to start reading). God bless you and your journey with Jesus.

Don’t Blame God

Ephesians 2:1-2(New International Version)—1) As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2) in which you used to live when you followed the ways of the world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.

Father God, people do not believe you are near when things are so bleak and dark. It’s hard for them to understand that if you are in control and always with us, then why do you allow all of the pain and suffering in the world? They are wondering why you are letting these disasters, wars, tragedies, and all the evil that is happening all around us. Terrorism is threatening our lives. People feel deserted, especially when tragedy happens to them.

People do not understand that it is not Your choice to let these things happen, Father God. You do not initiate these traumatic situations. It is about the free will that you gave each and every one of us at the beginning of time. You gave free will to Adam and Eve; and when you commanded them not to eat the fruit on the Tree of Knowledge, they chose to sin instead of obey You. Satan tempted Eve and that is when sin became a reality. You, God, gave us standards to live by—statutes, laws, and commandments; it is our choice to follow them or not.

Sometimes it is so hard for people to believe you exist. They wonder how could a merciful and loving God allow these things to happen? Where are you in all this? I wish people would stop blaming You. It isn’t your fault how some people choose to use their free will to hurt others. It isn’t your fault that the world makes up different belief systems.

Some people argue and say–“But God allows it.” That response always gets me. Yes, God allows bad things to happen, but I know God does not desert us. He turns tragedies and disasters and evil into good in His timing. He allows things to happen sometimes to bring us closer to Him. Sometimes when things are so bad they will choose God as their last resort. Hopefully that changes and people will start accepting God in their lives while the going is good. It goes against the gift of free will in the first place if He stops us from our choices. He is waiting for us to choose Him. He will not force Himself upon anyone. His ways are better than our ways, His thoughts are higher than ours. No one is supposed to understand everything, that is where our faith comes in.

Romans 11:33-34 (Amplified Bible)–33) Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unfathomable (inscrutable, unsearchable) are His judgments (His decisions)! And how untraceable (mysterious, undiscoverable) are His ways (His methods, His paths)! 34) For who has known the mind of the Lord and who has understood His thoughts, or who has [ever] been His counselor?

Isaiah 66:4 (Amplified Bible)–So I also will choose their delusions and mockings, their calamities and afflictions, and I will bring their fears upon them–because when I called, no one answered; when I spoke, they did not listen or obey. But they did what was evil in My sight and chose that in which I did not delight.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (Amplified Bible)–8) For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, says the Lord. 9) For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.

Satan is the ruler of the air; he is responsible for all evil and the temptation of sin in this world.God has no evil in Him. God is Sovereign and He has the last say. Always remember, Jesus defeated death when He died and was resurrected. He has victory over Satan and we will always be the winner when we choose God. God is always in control. It is our free will that changes His predestined plans. Choose God–don’t blame Him.
