Doing Things that Please Him

1 John 3:21-22(New Living Translation)—21) Dear friends, if our conscience is clear, we can come to God with bold confidence. 22) And we will receive whatever we request because we obey Him and do the things that please Him.
(Read all of “1 John 3” when you have a chance).

Obeying His commandments—loving God and loving others pleases Him. When we see people in need, it is showing kindness and love for them when we help them. We are to love people by actions, not just saying, “Oh yes, I love others.” Doing for others without expecting something in return is love. Go out of your way to love one another.

One day I went to lunch with my Aunt and Uncle. My aunt must have noticed my sandals were old and just about falling off of my feet. (They were so comfortable, I really didn’t think about it). Out of the blue, she handed me some money and told me to buy myself a new pair of sandals. That was kindness in action. I never seemed to have enough money left over after bills to get a pair. The amount of money my Aunt gave me was exactly the price of the shoes I bought. This was an answer to prayer.

One month I needed to buy a dog license, but I didn’t have enough money. My neighbor needed a ride out of town and gave me some gas money. You know, it was just enough money for the dog license! God is so faithful—He does provide for His children. It’s wonderful what a loving Father we have who even takes care of the little things. He does reward His children when we obey His commandments. This pleases God.

Matthew 6:3-4(NLT)—3) But when you give to someone, don’t tell your left hand what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in secret and your Father, who knows all secrets, will reward you.

God loves us so much and is deserving of all our love. I love pleasing Him by telling people of His love for us. I like to share the hope that He gives me. Hopefully, that will bring more people to Christ.

Our actions let us know when we are living in His truth or not. Our integrity means doing right, even when no one is watching because God sees everything we do; even something as simple as walking around the clothing department of a store and seeing a shirt on the floor. Do you walk right by or pick it up and put it back on its hanger? Even the littlest things are important, and that pleases God.

Believing in Jesus Christ is God’s commandment, and when we obey Him we live in fellowship with them and they fellowship with us. We know He does because He lives in us as the Holy Spirit. I love pleasing God.

Do you love Father God; His Son, Jesus Christ; and the Holy Spirit? (Do you know them)? Show Him with your actions. Spend time with Him. He will be pleased.

His Promises

(A Poem)

People promise just about anything;
But most promises will be broken.
We mean well, but things happen
And we cannot always keep our promises.

Jesus promised that He will be back for us.
We are to be awake and watch for Him.
Only God knows when.
Trust Him, He will return.

1 Thessalonians 5:2 (King James Version)–For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.

God promised us eternal life.
His promise will never be broken.
Those who love and accept Jesus
know eternal life is theirs.

1 John 2:25 (King James Version)–And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.

He promised He would never forsake us.
We are the ones who leave Him.
He is always with us.
He is faithful.

Hebrews 13:5 (King James Version)–…for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

Once we asked Jesus into our heart and He became our personal savior,
He promised that nothing could take us away from Him.
God means what He says
And I believe Him.

John 10:28 (New King James Version)–And I give them eternal life and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand.

WE CAN DEPEND ON HIS PROMISES!

Jesus promised that He would leave us with a Helper.
He did.
He gave us the Holy Spirit.
We receive Him when we accept Jesus as our personal savior.

John 14:26 (Amplified Bible)–But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf]. He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.

Thank you, Jesus, for your promises.
I have faith and I trust in you.
I know I can depend
On You to keep all of Your promises.

2 Corinthians 1:20 (New King James Version)–For all the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

Hebrews 10:23 (New King James Version)–Let us hold firmly to the hope that we have confessed, because we can trust God to do what He promised.

Do You Have Faith in God?

Hebrews 11:1—Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Romans 10:17—So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

2 Corinthians 4:16,18—Therefore we do not lose heart…We fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Romans 1:16-17—For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for anyone who believes, for the Jew first and also the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

Faith is when we believe in God the Father, His Son Jesus the Christ, and the Holy Spirit; even though we have never seen this Holy Trinity. Faith is a spiritual preference. When we have a true faith in God there is no room for doubt. This is where our hope comes from. Faith is having joy in your heart all the time even when things are not going well. You either believe or you don’t. He implanted faith in us and He will help us grow in our faith when we choose to believe and accept Christ.

I have the Christian Faith. I believe that Jesus Christ is my personal savior. I believe He died on the cross for me. He also did this for you. I have faith that the Bible is the truth—they are the inspired words from God. In the Scripture –2 Timothy 3:16 God tells us—‘All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.’ This is all I need for proof because in my heart I believe God is all truth-He cannot lie. He is holy and pure and everything good—there is no evil in Him.

Faith is not just head knowledge, but believing with your whole heart. I have faith in God and I trust Him. I do not see His faithfulness, but I believe He always is because I know He is always there for me no matter what. He has promised that He will never leave nor forsake us. By faith, I believe He is always present (omnipresent)—everywhere at the same time. Also, He is all-knowing (omniscient)–He knows when our life will begin and when it will end, and He is all-powerful (omnipotent).

God can only speak truth, so when He says He will fulfill all His promises, I believe that He will. Faith in God helps me not fear death because I know I will be going to heaven when I die.

John 8:32—And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.

His ways are the best ways, His ways give you freedom to live a righteous life and you may have confidence in knowing in your heart that you will go to heaven when you die. So what is there really to worry about? If we die in Christ, we will live where there will be no more pain, or sadness, or evil, or danger. I’m not afraid to die, are you?

John 4:24–God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in Spirit and Truth.

Bring God With You All Day Long

2 Corinthians 4:5-7 (New Living Translation)—5) We don’t go around preaching about ourselves; we preach Christ Jesus, the Lord. All we say about ourselves is that we are your servants because of what Jesus has done for us. 6) For God, who said “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made us understand that this light is the brightness of the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ. 7) But this precious treasure—this light and power that now shine within us—is held in our perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our own.

God uses plain and ordinary people like us to demonstrate His power and love so that people will know that it has to be Him working in us when we are doing good works. We become totally different people when we allow His love to shine through our weaknesses. We may look the same—but we don’t act the same as we use to before we met Christ. God’s love will flow through us when we let Him. Let His glorious light shine through you all day.

Psalm 18:28 (NLT)—LORD, You have brought light to my life; my God, you light up my darkness.
Psalm 36:9 (NLT)—For You are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.
Matthew 5:16 (NLT)—In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Jesus is the light of the world. If we want His love to shine through us, we need to stay in His Word and pray often which is experiencing fellowship with God. Let’s pray to be more like Christ in all that we do. If we are broken, the Lord may be exalted in our lives. His will may be done through us easier when we surrender ourselves to Him. Don’t leave home without inviting Him to fill you with grace to demonstrate God’s love and compassion toward everyone you meet. We need God’s help to live well.

We can offer His truth to people wherever we go. When we are filled with God’s Word before we go about our daily routine, we will see how many people we can bless with the truth of His love. If you want your life to be different, ask God to show you how you need to change.

Accept others for who they are, and see how God works in you to complete your joy. We may not be able to influence or change other people, but with God’s help, we can change ourselves to bring about the results He wants. See how God works in you to show a positive change in others.

Ephesians 3:16-17 (NLT)—16) I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will give you mighty inner strength through his Holy Spirit. 17) And I pray that Christ will be more and more at home in your hearts as you trust in him. May your roots go down deep into the soil of God’s marvelous love.
(Ephesians 3:14-21 is about Paul’s prayer for spiritual empowering).

Do You Hear His Knock?

Listen!

Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart.

He wants to come into your life (home).

Jesus is waiting for you to answer your door.

He is waiting for you to ask Him into your heart and life.

When you hear His voice,

Answer him with a sincere prayer of acceptance.

Jesus will enter your home (heart)

And He will never leave you nor forsake you.

When you ask Him into your heart

The Holy Spirit will reside in you.

And He will dine with you and pray with you.

He will teach you the mysteries of God

And help you to love others.

The Holy Spirit will teach, guide, help, comfort, and empower you,

So why don’t you answer Jesus’ knock?!

He is a gentleman; Jesus will not enter your home without your invitation.

After awhile Jesus will stop knocking.

It will be too late for you

Because your life has ended.

(So answer while you still have the chance!)

Revelation 3:20–“Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice, I will come into him and dine with him and he with Me.”

John 10:9–I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.

(Read John 10:1-16–about the Good Shepherd)

John 14:16-17–16) And I will pray the Father and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever 17) the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

(Read John 14:16-26)

John 16:13–However, when He, the Holy Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth, for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you of things to come.

Romans 8:11–…He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

A New Heart

O Lord, no longer do I want
to be apart from You.
Please create in me a new heart.
One that You will find blameless
so that Your will may be done
through my life as You wish.
By having Your Holy Spirit within me,
renew my spirit to be loyal to You.
I wish to be more like You
so that Your good may be done
on earth as it is in heaven–
Happy, peaceful, safe, loving,
all the good that You possess.
How great would it be to
create new hearts in others, too.
Then Your love could be spread
all over this world.
It could happen if we would only pray–
“Create in me a clean heart, O God
and renew a steadfast spirit
within me.” Psalm 51:10
I love you, Lord. AMEN

IS LIFE WORTH IT?

(I wrote this poem in 1989, when my 4 month old baby boy died and then my husband left me within a year).

All the pain

Am I sane

A struggle to grow

Into a person who will glow

The world is cruel

But I am a jewel

Is Life Worth It?

No matter what happens

Even when everything dampens

With the tears from the heart

Try to remember that tomorrow

will always be a fresh new start

Is Life Worth It?

Knowing the person I am

Even if it is all I have to give

God gave His begotten Son to die

So that I may live

Is My Life Worth it?

God accepts me as I am

Now that I am His child

His love helps me accept my life

Knowing He helps me grow

I will become the best I can be

He Makes My Life Worth It!

When I am alone

I have to remember

His Holy Spirit lives within me

He is my refuge

Jesus is Lord of my life

With Him I will get through the day

He is also my friend

I love Him as He first loved me

YES, LIFE INCLUDING JESUS IS WORTH IT!

1 Corinthians 6:19(NLT)–Or don’t you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?  You do not belong to yourself.

1 Corinthians 3:17(NLT)–God will bring ruin upon anyone who ruins this temple.  For God’s temple is holy, and you Christians are that temple.

Have a great day everyone!  I cannot see how anyone can make it through their days without Jesus.  He is the only way for us to get to heaven because He saved us from death. (The penalty of sin is death).

Do You Want to Take a Spiritual Journey?

(A Poem)

Proverbs 3:5,6(NKJV)—Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Look deep within yourself.

Do you see who you are?

Is it a pleasant surprise?

Or is it someone you don’t know?

Do you hear a soft, gentle voice?

This is your place of your conscience,

God’s Holy Spirit’s dwelling place.

This deep intensity

Is the region you must search

To start your Spiritual Journey with God.

If this area is hard for you to locate,

Maybe it is because you haven’t

Asked Jesus to come with you

On your life’s Journey.

First you need to have a close relationship

With Jesus as your personal savior

So that you may ask for directions

To stay on the straight road.

Your Journey is Spiritual with Him.

Without Him, it is just

A selfish and lonely trip.

He will show you a safe,

Loving path to follow

So that you may enjoy

Your life’s Journey of Sunrises.

Enjoy your trip that so few want to travel.

The other route has too many curves.

He will make sure you reach your destination.

There will be a lot of

Learning stepping stones

Along the way.

You will have free will

To choose between good and evil.

It wouldn’t be a Spiritual Journey

Without listening to His wisdom.

His destination is like an awesome

Rainbow for those who follow his directions.

Reading His map is

The guardrail of guidance.

This is so important to follow

So that your life’s Journey

Doesn’t have any major accidents.

Jesus is a wonderful companion.

He promises to always be there

Throughout this Spiritual Journey,

In case of any detours that seemed

Easier and faster at the time,

But then we figured out

His road was always the best route.

As the Spiritual Journey comes to an end;

The few who chose to follow

And stayed loyal to God,

Will see the Most Brilliant and

Magnificent Sunset at

The end of the Rainbow

Where our Heavenly Father’s Son, Jesus,

Will greet us with open, loving arms

And take us home with Him.

Proverb 16:9(NKJV)—A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.

Hebrews 3:7(NKJV)—Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you will hear His voice.…”

Hebrews 13:5(NKJV)–….For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

God’s Creation

When I started reading the Bible, I was in awe of our Lord.  There is so much to learn about our God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.  He reveals new treasures about Himself in every chapter of the Bible.  It is a pleasure and honor to learn about such a wonderful God.  The book of Genesis teaches us that He is our Creator.

If it wasn’t for God’s awesome love and grace, we wouldn’t be able to live with Him in eternity.  It is so awesome to know He loves us so much that He sent His only begotten Son into this world to save us from eternal death. (Read John 3:16).

1John 4:9-10(NKJV)–9) In this the love of God manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into this world, that we might live through Him.  10)  In this is love, not that we loved God but that He loved us and still sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

God,  our Creator, is an incredible, interesting and pleasurable companion to be with on our earthly journey.  Bring Him along wherever you go.  Without Him nothing will exist–not even the earth.  It is hard to imagine not being in existence.  We wouldn’t know though because we would have never existed.

John 1:3 (Amplified)–All things were made and came into in existence through Him, and without him was not even one thing made, that has come into being.

God’s intricate design of our unique bodies is so complicated and bewildering.  There is so much to learn about our complex inward parts that He formed in our mother’s womb because we are fearfully and wonderfully made.  (Please read Psalm 139).  Our bodies intrigue and perplex doctors and scientists.  God procreated doctors and researchers to find cures and medicines to help people.  These are some of the people who He works through to help others.  God gives them knowledge to be placed in such privileged positions.

Inventors are another group of people God uses.  God gave the inventors the wisdom to devise new items.  God should get all the glory because nothing would be possible without him.  It pleases him to give us all of these gifts.  I don’t understand why people used their free will to destroy so much of God’s creation.  This makes our generous and awesome God sad and angry.

I am in awe of God’s whole creation.  His beautiful rainbows remind us of His promise of never flooding the whole earth again; waterfalls show His powerful might, magnificent sunrises and sunsets that He gives us for our pleasure; and the weather and change of seasons are to name only a few things that only our Creator, God, could have placed into existence.
