If you are not saved, you are probably thinking, “Am I saved from what?” These are some of the reasons why you should be saved:
1) From having a negative and hopeless outlook on life.
2) From a lonely existence.
3) From condemnation in God’s eyes.
4) From eternal destruction.
5) From eternal separation from God.
6) From eternity in the lake of fire with Satan.
And when you are saved:
7) You become a child of God.
8) You receive the Holy Spirit.
9) You will have Eternal Life in heaven with Jesus.
10) Jesus becomes your personal Savior and Lord of your life.
Salvation comes through believing in Jesus. Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. Jesus is God’s beloved gift to us.
John 3:16-17(New King James Version)—16) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17) For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
Without Jesus’ ultimate sacrifice of dying on the old rugged cross for our sins, we would have had a hopeless life. There would be no hope for us because we were born sinners and we cannot save ourselves. We could never be good enough by our own doing or work our way up to please God. Jesus took all our sin upon Him and died in our place so that we would not be separated from God in eternity. Jesus’ death gave us hope because it reconciled us with God. If we had not been reunited with God, we never would be allowed in heaven after our death. Jesus knew that we never had a chance if He did not obey His Father to save us. Jesus had the choice to do God’s will or not. He chose to obey His Father in heaven because of His love for us. Jesus was perfect and always obeyed His Father.
1 John 4:10(New King James Version)—In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
John 14:6(New King James Version)—Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
To die in sin would sentence us to the lake of fire. Yes, there really is a hell and a devil. When we are spiritually saved, we will not go there. We will be saved by grace which is God’s unmerited favor.
Romans 6:23 (New King James Version)—For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ephesians 2:8-9(New King James Version)—8) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9) not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Did you know that we are not born as a child of God? Not everyone will become a child of God. Unbelievers, the unsaved people of this world who do not choose to accept Jesus in their life will never become a child of God. God will only adopt born-again believers who choose to follow Christ Jesus. The father of this world is the father of all lies—the devil.
John 8:23-24(New King James Version)—23) And He said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above, you are of this world; I am not of this world. 24) Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”
John 8:44(New King James Version)—You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.
Once we are saved we become a child of God. We are saved when we believe by faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and believe what Christ did for us. Then we choose to accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior of our life. God will adopt us and make us a part of his family. We become a brother and sister to Jesus. We also become brothers and sisters, in Christ, to each other who are saved.
John 1:12-13(New King James Version)—12)But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13)who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
1 John 5:19(New King James Version)—We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
We also receive the Holy Spirit in our life when we become saved. He is our helper, comforter, and wonderful counselor. He convicts us of sin. He does not condemn. He does let us know when we have sinned so that we repent (change our way) right away and ask for God’s forgiveness. The Holy Spirit also prompts us to do something. For instance, He prompts somebody to help someone; or maybe prompts you to call someone right then and there because that person needed a friend at that moment. The Holy Spirit could delay you from leaving the house by losing your car keys for a few minutes, just long enough to save you from an accident that would have happened down the street; if you were a few minutes earlier.
The Holy Trinity is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are each separate, and each are very important with very specific roles, but yet, they are one.
1 Corinthians 6:19(The Amplified Bible)—Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit who lives within you, whom you have received (as a gift) from God? You are not your own.
1 John 5:7(New King James Version)—For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.
To become a child of God, to receive the Holy Spirit, and to have Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior are three wonderful reasons to be saved.
When we become a child of God, we become co-heir with Jesus. We will share His inheritance with Him. We will be able to live in the kingdom of God with Jesus when we are saved. Being saved, or born-again, is the only way we get to see or enter heaven. (Read John 3:1-3:21, this is where Jesus speaks about being born-again (being saved).
Ask yourself if you want to be saved?
Do you believe in your heart that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God and He died on the cross for you to save you from your sins? Do you believe that He was crucified, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. (Read 1 Corinthians 15:3-4.) Then you are ready to be saved!
All you need to do is say a sincere prayer from your heart. You may say it in our own words or you say something like this:
Father God, Thank you for Your Son, Jesus. I believe He died on the cross for my sins. Your word says I am saved by grace through faith as a gift from you. I do not deserve such a gift. I am sorry for all my sins, and I ask for your forgiveness. Thank you for forgiving me. I need Jesus in my life as my personal Lord and Savior. I sincerely ask Jesus to come into my life so I may be a child of our Father in heaven. Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
You just said your Salvation Prayer. Now, go and confess that you are saved and have Jesus as your personal savior and He is Lord of your life. If you do not have a bible, it would be great if you could buy one or borrow one from someone you know who has one; or better yet-go to a Christian church and ask the Pastor if you could borrow one (He might just give it to you). It is important to get in God’s Word so you can learn about Father God, Jesus His Son, and the Holy Spirit. Find a church that is Bible based and meet other Christians that you can fellowship and worship God with, and enjoy your new Christian walk. There will still be troubled times, but now you won’t have to go through your situations alone; you will have God to help you through. God Bless your new beginning.
